iWood. Sexy cases for the iPhone and iPod

March 2, 2008

Minot is offering the iWood, custom laser engraved iPhone cases in a variety of rich woods. You can choose from oak, padouk, cherry, mahogany and walnut. They also have versions for 5th generation iPods and 2nd generation iPod Nanos.

A base price of $115 US is pretty steep, but you can pretty much bet that you’ll be the only one in the office with one of these. Add a custom stand (cut from the same piece of wood as the case) for an extra $25 then have your logo or a monogram etched on the case for another $20 and you’re up to a grand total of $160.

Some users have reported having to do a little minor trimming around the power and volume notches to get it fine tuned, but the overall impression was they iWood was a thing of beauty and that the photos don’t do it justice.

Apple MacBook Air: Coming to an Envelope Near You

January 15, 2008

We’ve heard the rumors and have waited patiently. Apple finally announced a new line of notebook computers during Steve Jobs’ keynote speech at MacWorld 2008 today. The ultra-compact MacBook Air line is the new sibling to the existing MacBook and MacBook Pro lines.

Features include bragging rights for being “the world’s thinnest notebook,” at 0.16″ to 0.76″ - still thinner than the thinnest part of a Sony TZ series laptop. The screen is a 13.3″ widescreen backlit LCD with a magnetic latch.

The MacBook Air keyboard is familiar but now has an ambient light sensor. The new notebooks feature a multi-touch trackpad, allowing the user to double-tap and move, to rotate photos by pivoting your index finger and thumb, as well as the pinch & zoom goodness we all love from the iPhone and iPod Touch interface.

The update 1.1.3(4A93) was released today shortly after the Macworld Expo.

A few of the most notable updates are after the jump.

We couldn’t find any good photos or other info on the build quality at the moment and there’s no word on who the actual manufacturer is. It’s most likely a company in China which would help explain the low retail pricing.

V-Moda Unveils Stylish New Color Choices

December 5, 2007

blog_vmodablue.jpg

Just in time for Christmas, V-MODA released some stylish new colors for its earbud lines. The VIBE Duo now includes Gunmetal Rouge and Polished Chrome versions to satisfy those iPhone users looking for something more stylish than either the standard black Duos or Apple’s basic headsets. The standard VIBE (no inline microphone) gets a similar makeover with a Midnight Blue version.

The Bass Fréq line is also sporting a few new color options. Jaded (dark green) and Rouge (dark red) are actually color-matched to Apple’s new red and light green iPod nano and shuffle players.

Others features and pricing remain the same as with the stock models. The VIBE and VIBE Duo still ship for around $100 from the Apple Store, Amazon, and V-MODA’s site. You can pick up the Bass Fréqs for around $40 at both Amazon and other online retailers like Target.
